But will it make the cut in Constructed? I don't think a four-mana 4/4 with Adapt 1 and no enter-the-battlefield effect isn't going to cut it. This could be pretty powerful in Limited. ![]() This is interesting because you can keep putting counters on this other than through the Adapt mechanic to keep locking down your opponent's creatures. This might be okay for Standard as a way to get in the last points of damage if you're playing something like Rakdos Aggro and can't attack through because the board is clogged up or there's something else preventing you from attacking profitably. I doubt it for non-Standard formats.Ĭounter target activated ability or triggered ability.Ĭreate a token that's a copy of a creature you control. This in nowhere near as powerful as Relic of Progenitus, but might see play in Standard. If you're a Limited expert, please comment below on how many Gates you would need to make this work to play certain cards. This seems pretty good in Limited, but three mana is probably too much for anything outside of Standard. Will it make the cut outside of Standard? It's tough to say, but probably not. This might go in some Simic Adapt deck in Standard. Will it make the cut for some Gate deck with Maze's End in Constructed? Maybe Pauper? I doubt it but you can try. Will this card be good enough to consistently enable Spectacle? It also survives Goblin Chainwhirler's enter-the-battlefield effect. Maybe it'll be a collector's item because of it. Some people really love the flavor text of this card. One extra mana to Scry 1 on top of Disenchant? Hm, seems like three mana is too much. I don't think this will make the cut for something like Soul Sisters in Modern. Ravnica Allegiance Spoilers Last Update: by Edward Eng Guild Spotlight: Azorius | Rakdos | Gruul | Simic | Orzhov As Ravnica Allegiance spoiler season progresses, we'll be releasing a Guild Spotlight for all 5 features factions, highlighting existing cards and mechanics that are poised to benefit from the new releases. The first and most crucial thing to know: Ravnica Allegiance's Guilds! We know Azorius, Rakdos, Gruul, Simic, and Orzhov will be featured in the second expansion of Guilds of Ravnica block. Here's what we know about Ravnica Allegiance (RNA) so far, including any cards in the spoiler, the guilds represented, and cards to speculate on before the full spoiler is released. Perhaps wizards should be more careful about what cards it produces in the first place so games would play out in a way that gives each individual card less of a role in winning the game. The sequel to Guilds of Ravnica and the 80th expansion set in Magic: The Gathering's history is due to release on January 25, 2019. Banning a perfectly good card makes the game not fun anymore. I play magic to have fun, not to be ranked or make money. The combo with faceless haven can be taken out numerous ways before it happens (and often is) - this isn't close to being an overused or overpowered combination. There are so many other cards that are unfairly frustrating and massively overused/overpowered (Ugin, Winota, Embercleave, etc. ![]() I was so excited to finally get a good card for mono White, but this ban shows the team at Wizards isn't serious about balance. I'm a top 1% player in terms of engagement (my preference is best of 1) and I have spent a substantial amount of money on Arena.īanning a card because it's "frustrating" is beyond unreasonable. I just want to add that I will be quitting MTG arena the day Book of Exalted Deeds is banned. Look at the score here, -598 to +351 and as you can see he has three counters on his faceless haven's and each one says he can't lose the game.įortunately he did end up quitting before my deck ran out of cards. I imagine this isn't even fun on a creature either as the opponent can choose to not attack or block with that creature and if they have a deck full of counter spells they can sit there and basically drag the match out until you run out of cards. It's both unfair and un-fun to be able to cast book of exalted deeds ability "you can't lose the game" onto faceless haven which then becomes a land and therefor cannot be the target of the vast majority of removal spells.
