![]() And of course.you aint gonna get a bigger pushrod into the 5/16 guideplates(if that motor uses a guideplate stock.not sure). So even if by some miracle it were the right length for a roller conversion(which it wont be) its still too small. To go roller, you are gonna need springs, locks, retainers, pushrods, guideplates, and "probably" one of the net lash conversion kits to really do it right.Īs I understand the gen V valvetrain stock in most of those motors only uses a 5/16 pushrod. At that point, they are shimmed enough kidding by the way lol.įor a "real" hydraulic roller big block build with a healthy cam, you want a good lifter and more like 150lbs on the seat and 400-450lbs over the nose to spin it hard.Ī little less.maybe 130/375 would be adequate if you keep it under 5500. You might as well stack one spring on top of the other. Not much rate, and probably not nearly enough room to shim them enough to get adequate pressure out of them. I wouldnt use those on a healthy flat tappet, much less a roller, unless you are cool with valve float around 4000 rpm with a roller. They are like 105lbs on the seat set up at 1.88(or is it 1.85) and like 290 open. no matter what roller you use, throw those springs away. But it's not my $$, so feel free to ignore the last line. Gotta be honest.I hate it when people want to use th at line of cams.might as well put neon lights under the car, they have about the same functionality. Gotta be honest.I hate it when people want to use that line of cams.might as well put neon lights under the car, they have about the same functionality. If you are thinking about using the Thumpr 11-601-4, the OE springs used with this ^^ cam will likely work, assuming they are in decent shape.but for the low cost of "mild" springs, I'd use Comp's recommended set. Technical Notes: Distributor P/N 1104067 or melonized distributor gear P/N 10456413 must be used on all crate engines with steel camshafts. Valve lash is zero/zero and lobe centerline is 115 degrees. 050" tappet lift (intake/exhaust) is 220/220 and maximum lift with 1.7:1 rocker ratio (intake/exhaust) is 500/500. (Advanced five degrees use spring P/N 3970627.) The duration at lash point in degrees (intake/exhaust) is 328/324 duration at. And N/A to which you see.Smaller engies love small LSA as it gives them more bottom end torque, and larger love wider as displacement allows the torque and allows the engine to make better horsepower up top. This hydraulic flat tappet "454" is a good street high-performance and marine cam used in the Gen V 454 H.O. Turbos have longer Intake durations up to approx 5500 rpm then theyre either ground retarted or more of a GAS cam to allow ehaust from choking the engine as pressures are greater in the turbines than intakes. Theres alot more emphasis on designer profiles today, more than ever most have deliberately been ground advanced or retarted for whatever reason, this makes the individual company look super cool, yea theres grinds that favour Autos and Gas and turbo and Blown, but i can assure you that the GAS/NITROUS/SUPERCHARGERS arent far removed from each other, and Autos have wide centres, bigger durations, and lower overlap to increase idle vacumme so that Vac modulators and so on can read the situation better. They have awesome mid range torque and have narrow RPM bands hence why they respond well to manual boxes, however top Drag engines NA use them too with powerglides and big convertors. I like 106-110 LSA on 5-6 litre engines especially with manual gearboxes. So what are you waiting for? Its Free and takes just a moment so register for an account today!.
